KIRKSVILLE,MO -- Kraft Foods in Kirksville announce that students of four of its employees were recently awarded 2011 Kraft Foods Scholarships.

“We are thrilled that children of four of our employees were selected out of the hundreds who applied for this competitive scholarship,” said Kerry Kremer, Plant Manager, Kraft Foods-Kirksville.  “It’s an impressive accomplishment but I’m not surprised because I know our employees have raised smart, talented kids.  And each year, the children of our employees make a strong showing as scholarship winners within Kraft Foods.”

The Kirksville facility employs approximately 500 people who make a variety of OSCAR MAYER bacon and ham products.

Attached is a photo of the local scholarship winners.  From left to right, they are:

Morgan Schmitz, daughter of Eddie and Bonita Schmitz, of Kirksville, MO.  (Eddie is Kraft employee)

Brock Couch, son of Anthony and Kristen Couch, of Baring, MO.  (Anthony is Kraft employee)

Megan Becker, daughter of Edward and Julie Becker, of Kirksville, MO.  (Edward is Kraft employee)

Gentry Fowler, daughter of Don and Loraine Fowler, of Queen City, MO.   (Don is Kraft employee)

All of the employees are Operations Technicians at Kraft Foods in Kirksville.  This year, Kraft Foods awarded nearly 90 scholarships to children of U.S. employees.  In 2010, 5 children of employees at Kraft Foods-Kirksville received Kraft Foods Scholarships.

Both 4-year College Scholarships and Vocational/Technical Scholarships (for full- or part-time study) are awarded.  Winners are chosen on a competitive basis.  All phases of the scholarship competition are handled by organizations that are independent of Kraft Foods.
