KIRKSVILLE -- The dog days of summer might be over, but the city of Kirksville will be gearing up for a busy fall.
Kirksville will be hosting a number of business conferences and festivals including the Bacon Festival, Red Bar Arts Festival, and the 27th Annual Nemo Triathlon.
However, one of the big concerns for the city of Kirksville is the new Alternate Route 63.
The new highway will go around the city, but will it take away tourism from downtown Kirksville?
"I think any infrastructure like the Alternate Route is just more opportunity for economic growth in our community. I am not worried at all that it will detract people. They will drive to Kirksville to stay in a hotel, so they have reason to come. I think it will be wonderful," said Kirksville Tourism Director Debi Boughton.
