KEOKUK, IOWA -- The future for the merchants and shoppers of one area mall is uncertain.

The owners of the River City Mall in Keokuk face foreclosure on a $980,000 loan and the mall is set to go on the auction block September 14. The auction will be held at the South Lee County Courthouse in Keokuk.

Mall owner Shannon Zetterlund told Daily Gate City newspaper that she has been in contact with Bayview Loan Servicing LLC and believed an agreement could be made on the loan.

Zetterlund says she didn't know about the foreclosure auction until a legal noticed was published about it last week.

The mall suffered a fire back in February receiving smoke and water damage.
