OTTUMWA -- One generous donation helps hundreds of students in Wapello County.
A woman from upstate New York, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated somewhere between $2,500 to $3,000 worth of school supplies to the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association. The organization hopes to help almost 200 students going into classes this fall in the county.
Ramona Vaux of SEIDA says this type of donation is something very rare.
“This lady’s generosity brought tears to my eyes,” said Vaux. “I was so blessed and blessed for our families that we serve in the community because we’ve never actually had somebody make a big donation like this before.”
SEIDA started by packaging the supplies according to grade level. Packs of supplies ranged from kindergarten through high school.
The organization helped distribute the packs to low-income families on Friday. If there are extra supplies and you qualify for the supplies you are asked to visit SEIDA Monday during its hours.
