OTTUMWA -- The buzz continues this week following the Republican Iowa Straw poll from over the weekend.
Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann won by a small margin over Texas congressman Ron Paul.
Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty finished in third. On Sunday, Mr. Pawlenty withdrew from the race.
We spoke to Blake Smith who worked for the Pawlenty campaign in Wapello County.
“It was a great experience and there was a lot of work leading up to it,” said Smith. “I mean we’ve prepared for months to do so. We would’ve definitely liked a bigger boost than what we got but all-in-all I think it was a great effort. I have no regrets and I’m glad we got the governor as far as we did.”
Smith says he will listen to which candidate Pawlenty will endorse but he’ll still make up his own mind on who he’ll vote for.
“I was with the governor a lot personally. I really respect who he decides to endorse and I’ll definitely look at that hard but in the end it’s my decision. I’ll respect what he thinks but I’ll figure it out for myself in the end.”
