OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The 70th Annual Summer Golf Classic took place Monday in Ottumwa. The event, organized by the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce gathered business from all over to raise money for the organization.

KTVO’s own Zoheb Hassanali took part in the classic. Even though this was Zoheb’s second time golfing, he said that he had a great time.

“My chipping is pretty decent. My driving keeps hooking to the right when I tee off; so I need to work on that. It’s been a tough day, but there is a big crowd and it is all for a good cause,” said Hassanali.

Also on the KTVO team was Ginny Hughes. Hughes is the public relations manager for the Jefferson County Health Center. Along with KTVO President and CEO Carol Kellum, the two were very excited to take part in the event.

“I totally support raising money for the chamber. They’ve got a lot of fun games on each hole, and you know, it’s a great day, it’s a great fundraiser. There are a lot of companies out here, and it is fund to golf with KTVO to raise some money for this organization,” said Hughes.

Andy Grove, KTVO’s Operations Manager in Ottumwa seemed to be the most skilled. Along the course, Grove was helping Hassanali out, coaching him and giving him tips on how to improve his game.

“When we were out on the 17th hole, which was the third hole for us, I was looking ok. We’re just here for fun. We’re not serious of course. Yes, this is my second time golfing. I did golf on Memorial Day weekend, it was terrible, but Andy has been helping out all day and I am getting a little better,” said Hassanali.

All the money raised at Monday’s event will benefit the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce. For more information on the chamber, visit them here.
