OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The city of bridges will see its first major official candidate for President this week as Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty will be speaking at the Vine Coffeehouse on Tuesday.
As of Sunday, Pawlenty and a handful of other candidates were officially place on the Iowa Straw Poll ballot.
The poll, which is a fundraising event for the Iowa Republican Party has had some controversy in the past. Two major names were left off of the poll; Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and current Texas Governor Rick Perry. Both have expressed interest in running for President, but have not officially made an announcement. Officials with the Iowa Republican Party have said that if a candidate wants to be on the ballot for the straw poll and wants to run for President, they need to make their intentions known.
Also appearing this week at the Vine Coffeehouse in Ottumwa will be Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.
