OTTUMWA -- The Bridge View Center in Ottumwa will be under new management in 2012.

The center’s contract with Centerplate will expire at the end of the year.  Centerplate will not try to renew its contract and will only stay on to run food and beverages.

Mayor Dale Uehling says VenuWorks, a company based in Ames, could be the new management the center has been looking for.

“We contacted somewhere, I think between eight and ten different companies that are in this type of business,” said Uehling.  “VenuWorks was the only one that submitted a proposal.  They have a number of their venues in Iowa.”

One of their venues includes a center in Spencer, Iowa similar to the Bridge View Center.  Uehling says on August 8, from 4-6 p.m. at the Bridge View Center, VenuWorks will hold a public forum to answer questions from residents.  The next step in the process will be working on a contract.

“There’s certainly some negotiations and some things we want to talk about and clarify.”
