FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- UPDATE Friday, 7-15 2 p.m.
The Fairfield Police Department has determined that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding a death at the Landmark Inn on Thursday morning.
Police were called to the Landmark at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday. They found a man's body in an apartment at the back of the Landmark Inn.
The man has now been identified as 45-year-old John Streitmatter. Streitmatter was a resident of the Landmark and was found in his apartment.
Jefferson County Attorney Tim Dille said in a Friday press release that it appears as if Streitmatter hit his head.
No cause of death has been determined, but the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an autopsy. Authorities say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Streitmatter's death and they do not suspect foul play.

The Fairfield Police Department was called Thursday morning to the Landmark Inn in downtown Fairfield after a body was found.
As of Thursday evening, little details were being released. Fairfield Police Chief Julie Harvey said in a statement that her department has no comment at this time and that the investigation is on-going.
KTVO has learned that the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Officer are assisting with the investigation. KTVO left messages with both departments Thursday evening, at this time no calls have been returned.
