BUCKLIN, MO -- A post office carrier was honored to celebrate a monumental occasion and career achievement.

Harry B. Rhodes, a native of Browning, Mo., has worked for the Bucklin Missouri Post Office for the last 28 years.

Rhodes delivers the mail six days a week. He has been driving the same mail route for those 28 years, which consists of 126 miles per day.

During his career at the Post Office, he has driven over 1.2 million miles without a single motor vehicle accident.  Donna M. Goza, Safety Manager of the Mid-America District out of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jacque Leslie, Manager of Postal Operations presented Rhodes with the One Million Mile Club Award plaque and pin. This award was given by the National Safety Council.

Rhodes was also a recipient of the Safe Driver Award of Honor. This award recognizes a minimum of 15 years of 100,000 miles of safe driving without an accident. He was recognized out of  958 nationally submitted for the honor award. Of those 958, six employees were from the Mid-America District. With a little over 10,000 employees, Rhodes was one of two employees out of Missouri who received this honor.

Donna Goza says, "We handle over 1,600 incidents recorded in a year. For driving without having some sort of motor vehicle accident or incident is a huge deal. Especially being out on the rural roads and being in areas where we take on inclement weather."

Prior to working for the Postal Service, Rhodes served in the Air Force for four years. He also enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and spending time on the farm.
