KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Some damage is reported after severe weather made its way through Northeast Missouri Tuesday.
As the system moved into the Heartland during the afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Adair County along with parts of Putnam, Schuyler and Sullivan Counties. Shortly after that, a Tornado Warning was issued for Adair County. The City of Kirksville sounded its emergency warning sirens to make residents aware of the situation.
Jody Courtney of Kirksville provided KTVO with video she shot at Boundary and Hamilton. KTVO received reports of nickel size hail just west of Novinger and pea size hail fell in Kirksville. Green City had 1.75 inches rain from the storm, along with a three inch diameter tree being snapped in two.
As the storm moved through, winds of up to 60 miles per hour were reported. KTVO has received reports of damage at Kirksville Regional Airport and in La Plata. A flag pole was blown over and windows blown out of three cars in the parking lot next to the terminal at the airport. A trained storm spotter reported a tree blew over onto Highway 156 a mile east of La Plata.
