OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Wapello County 4-H Expo is underway in Ottumwa
Participants from across the county are in the City of Bridges for this year's show.
The events kick off Monday evening with a parade through the streets of downtown Ottumwa, followed by a beauty pageant at Ottumwa’s Bridge View Center.
KTVO spoke with Gina Martin of Iowa State Extension Monday afternoon to find out how kids that aren’t involved in 4-H, can get involved.
“The best thing to do is come to the expo and see what we have going on. That tends to get people very excited. We have some information here about signing up for next year. We invited anyone to talk to the current 4-H kids. We will start recruiting in the fall for the New Year,” said Martin.
Martin explained to KTVO why this is her favorite part.
“This is my favorite part of the expo. I love seeing the incredible things that kids bring in. Every year it is just amazing. Some of the stuff just blows your mind that a child would come up with these ideas and make these beautiful things,” said Martin.
“It is anything from metal projects, from big metal things that could be used on the farms, to refurbishing a car, to woodworking projects,” said Martin.
