KIRKSVILLE -- Truman State University has completed its five-year "Bright Minds Bright Futures" fundraising campaign and have surpassed their $30 million goal by more than $600,000.

The University's first ever comprehensive campaign began on July 1, 2006 and ended on June 30, 2011.

Truman State University took in $30,638,357 in cash, pledges and new planned gift commitments.

All in all, donors established a total of 194 new funds with the University Foundation including 120 new named scholarship funds.

A few of the major priorities included student scholarships, student enrichment, faculty support, academics, and athletics.

Truman State University President Troy Paino said there are many people to thank for this great campaign and the future looks very bright for the University.

"There are a lot of people who graduated from here, but also friends of this University who believe in what we are doing. They also want to give students the same kind of education that they were able to get while they were students at Truman. I think it says a great deal about the confidence about our friends and alumni, but I think it says a lot about the commitment to excellence this University stands for," President Paino said.

Chuck Foudree, retired vice president and chief financial officer of Harmon Industries in Kansas City served as the campaign chair and led a corps of more than 100 volunteers who helped conduct the campaign over the last 5 years. Former University President Dr. Charles Mcclain served as the campaign's honorary chair.
