Charges stem from head-on collision

KIRKSVILLE, MO --
A Northeast Missouri man is behind bars for an alleged drunk driving incident.

According to court papers, Spencer Jacques, 24, of Novinger, was intoxicated when he crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Rebecca Barnes, 40, of Novinger on June 18th. The head-on collision happened one and a half miles west of Kirksville on Potter Trail. Barnes received moderate injuries and was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Jacques is charged with second degree assault: operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in injury, and tampering with a motor vehicle.

He's being held in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
