Police seize four pounds of meth during traffic stop

EDDYVILLE, IOWA -- A simple traffic stop ends with a California woman in jail and four pounds of meth off the streets.

A Wapello County Deputy Sheriff initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Eddyville, Iowa on Monday.  While speaking to the driver of the car, the deputy asked for and was granted permission to search the vehicle.

During the course of the search, officers located approximately four pounds of a substance which field tested positive to be ice methamphetamine. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Blanca Inelda Ortiz-Rodriguez, age 28, from Lakewood, Calif. 

Ortiz-Rodriguez has been arrested and charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver more than 5 grams of Methamphetamine, a class “B” Felony.  She currently is held in the Wapello County Jail on a $100,000 bond. 

Agencies assisting with the investigation were the Ottumwa Police Department K-9 unit, Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
