KIRKSVILLE, MO --
The Food 4 Kids program will serve its first free lunch to kids in Kirksville Tuesday.

This is the fifth year for the program, which is put on by First United Methodist Church in Kirksville and The Food Bank for North and Central Missouri. The church's youth group was hard at work preparing for Tuesday’s lunches to be served at Brashear, P.C. Mills, and Jaycee parks.

“It's totally awesome because our youth have a great opportunity to unload the trucks, they're going to be at the parks playing games with kids, eating lunch with kids, right now they're untying all the sandwich bags and they're doing different things, cleaning out coolers, anything that they need to get done, busy work, we're doing it for them.,” said Lynae McFarland, Director of Children and Youth Ministries, First United Methodist Church.

Instead of getting a sack lunch this year, the kids will have to eat their meal at the park.

There will also be activities and story time after lunch for the kids to enjoy.

This summertime program in Kirksville is held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, through the end of July.
