Kirksville Primary School dance off as the school year comes to a close
KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Some Heartland students end the school year with a big bang on Thursday.
Right before their last day of school, students at Kirksville Primary attended an awards assembly for the classes with the best attendance and best scores in areas such as math and writing.
Afterwards the students threw their “How to be good” tickets in the air and did a dance to celebrate the end of a successful school year. Principal Tricia Reger said that the tickets are awarded to students throughout the school year for good behavior and for showing respect and responsibility.
“So every one of the little pieces on the ground are positive an interaction a student has done in this school, where an adult said "Great job." "Good work." "Keep it up." We surprised them with the unveiling number of 31,000 how to be good tickets they earned this year.”
The assembly ended with a send off to the second graders as the walked out of the gym for one last time. The school hopes their years at Kirksville Primary have prepared them for the future and wishes them the best of luck as they now head to Ray Miller Elementary.
“We remind our second graders a lot about tiger pride and just all they do. We talked to them a lot about continuing to show respect, be responsible, and always give your best effort. I think that will serve them well in all their endeavors.”
Enjoy the summer break kids, Kirksville schools start the new school year on August 17.
