OTTUMWA, IOWA -- One of the world’s most viewed plays is showing this weekend in Ottumwa.  Agatha Christie’s, The Mousetrap, is being performed by the Ottumwa Community Players.

KTVO spoke with the play’s director, Bill Hornback, on Wednesday.  Hornback gave KTVO a small sample of what the audience can expect.

“This is one of the oldest plays and most viewed plays worldwide.  The Mousetrap was first performed in London in the 1950s and since then it has been a great success.  One of the greatest things about Agatha Christie is you never know what you’re going to get or which character is responsible for the murder,” said Hornback.

The community players have been performing in Ottumwa for a long time.

“Ottumwa Community Players has been doing this for a very long time.  I’ve just been affiliated for the last 2 years and I’m a newbie at directing.  These guys have been working hard to make me look like I know what I am doing and I appreciate it,” said Hornback.

Hornback told KTVO about how hard the cast has been working on this piece.

“We started with auditions the first weekend in April, so we’ve been going 2 months and it’s been a lot of fun. It’s a great play, I have a stellar cast.  These guys are just excellent and you can see the set is amazing. So we’ve had a lot of fun, it’s going to be a good show,” said Hornback.

The show is being performed this weekend at Ottumwa’s Bridge View Center.  If you would like more information, click on the link below.
