BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The trial for a Bloomfield man charged in the 2010 shooting death of another man has been moved up to June
after his attorney asserted his right to a speedy trial.
Fifty-nine-year-old Larry Steen is charged with first-degree murder in the September 2010 slaying of Randy Saner. Steen
allegedly shot Saner once, prompting a manhunt that ended with Steen's arrest in Kirksville, Mo.
The trial was orginally scheduled for October, but was moved to July and now to June 21.
If convicted on the murder charge, Steen would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison. He also faces a burglary charge that carries a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
