KIRKSVILLE, MO --
Missouri flowers were the topic of the day at the Northeast Regional Office of the Missouri Department of Conservation in Kirksville Saturday.
Families were invited for a free flower workshop for this month's Conservation Keepers program.
Participants spent the afternoon exploring wildflowers at the conservation department.
They even had the chance to disect and learn about the different parts of a flower.
The conservation department will continue to offer free programs throughout the summer, something they say you should take advantage of with your kids.
It gives them an opportunity to look at nature from a different angle then they might if they're just going with their family. It provides some of the science, even for the little kids we talk about some of the science, food chains, and things like that so they have a better understanding of what they're actually seeing when they go outside,” said Naturalist Amanda Moore.
The conservation department will have free programs for families, as well as different age groups this summer, including a day camp.
