KIRKSVILLE, MO -- In honor of Memorial Day, American Legion Auxiliary McDougall Post #20 will be having a poppy sale Saturday May 21st.

Veteran's in the hospital make the poppy flowers for the Ladies Auxiliary every year. They will be out starting at 8 a.m. at Walmart, Hy-Vee, Westlake, JC Penneys and Shelter Insurance.

The donated money help buy veterans wheelchairs, specialized equipment at clinics, utility coverage, gas money to go back and forth for doctor visits, as well as buy gifts for the veteran's in nursing homes. They raised $1000 last year and are hoping to do it again this year.

The Ladies have been doing this for years now and are very proud. They decorated Shelter Insurance window on the Kirksville Square with poppy flowers, memories, along with memories provided by a Gold Star mother.

If you see American Legion men with their hats on, Girls State and the Ladies Auxillary with poppy flowers, please stop and donate. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
