FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- Residents of a trailer park could be forced to pack their bags.

The city of Fairfield will cut off water to the Ranch Trailer Park on June 30th if the property is not cleaned up.

The park has between 20 and 24 units but only ten to 12 have people living in them.  Video and pictures of some of the abandoned homes have trash and animals living in them.  Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy told KTVO that the park has failed several safety and health inspections conducted by the city.

“I think we've done our own inspections on the park and we have found that there's been no substantial improvement to the park,” said Malloy.

One of the biggest problems with cleaning the property up is figuring out which owner will work through this problem.

“One of the issues is that we're trying to determine where the ownership is of this property.  We are talking with what we believe are former owners and we may be talking to new owners so we're trying to determine who is going to take responsibility."

Malloy also added that he doesn’t want people to have to move; however, if several health and safety concerns are not addressed by the end of June, they’ll be forced.

“We don't want to displace anyone we just really need the park to be taken care of."
