BONAPARTE, IOWA -- Students in one Van Buren City learned about the importance of reading; while also getting to move around.
Students at Harmony Elementary School in Bonaparte held their annual Reading Day Friday morning. The event is held every year on one of the final Fridays of the school year.
This year students showed off their dance moves to the beat of the Black Eyed Peas "I've got a feeling"; but the words were changed to promote reading and having a healthy lifestyle.
First Grade Teacher Dana Hull says she hopes it will have a lasting impact.
"We want them to be healthy not just for that day but for the rest of their lives. Make better choices not only with eating but with exercise and with their minds as well. We want them to learn more and grow all around."
Over 170 students participated in the event.
