AMES, IOWA (AP) --
A teen has died from injuries suffered in a crash that police say stemmed from a fuel theft in Ames.
Police told the Des Moines Register that 16-year-old Brice Nelson, of Nevada, died at the scene of Saturday morning's crash.
The driver of the car Nelson was in, 18-year-old Kaleb Hoversten, of Ames, faces charges of vehicular homicide, driving on a suspended license and theft.
Police say Hoversten pumped almost $53 in gas and left without paying for it.
An officer tried to stop Hoversten's car, which police say sped off and collided with a truck driven by 38-year-old William Schroeder, of Ames.
Police say Hoversten suffered minor injuries. Another passenger in his car and Schroeder are being treated Des Moines hospitals.
No number was listed for Hoversten.
