FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- (This story has been correct to reflect the high school and not the University.)
MSAE will soon be expanding their services for foreign students.
The school is planning on creating a boarding school for international students; in particular Chinese students for their desire to learn in America. The university began as a small boarding school when it opened in 1981.
The students will stay initially with host families who will get paid for room and board.
Head of school Richard Beall says its a win-win for both sides.
"The host family gets a cross-cultural experience for their family to have a student from another culture like that. They also get some financial incentive that way because they get paid to provide room and board for the student. But then for the international student or Chinese in this case, they get to be with an American family, see what their cultures really like."
The school hopes to have two buildings in the next few years that can host up to 40 boys and 40 girls. For more information, call 641-472-9400 or visit www.maharishischooliowa.org.
