KIRKSVILLE, MO --
There was reason to celebrate in the Adair County Circuit Courtroom Monday.

The 2nd Judicial Circuit, Juvenile Division was given a prestigious award by the Supreme Court of Missouri.

This was the fourth time Presiding Circuit Judge Russell Steele and staff have received the Permanency Award.

“The Permanency Award goes to circuits who finish in the top two in their category for having timely hearings in the juvenile cases, which include neglect and abuse cases, and its important and difficult to meet all these timeframes because they come very quick,” said Judge Zel Fischer, Missouri Supreme Court.

The 2nd Circuit includes Adair, Knox, and Lewis counties.

Judge Fischer also presented the Permanency Award to the 1st Circuit Monday at the Scotland County Courthouse.
