KIRKSVILLE, MO --
A hiring blitz at McDonald's restaurants around the nation took place Tuesday.
Both McDonald's locations in Kirksville and the Macon store participated by interviewing potential employees on National Hiring Day.
The north McDonald's in Kirksville interviewed over three dozen applicants to fill six to eight positions as a way to gear up for summer, their busiest time of year.
“Another great advantage of [National Hiring Day] just building McDonald's brand name, getting our crew, they're kind of our “mcfamily” here, involved and tell them how much we appreciate them. We have ongoing coupons, drawings, treats, just to motivate our crew that are here that we do appreciate them and we look forward to them training all of these new applicants from the community that we've hired here today,” said General Manager Jenny Elsea, Kirksville north Mcdonald’s.
Elsea says McDonald’s is a steadily growing company, and more and more employees are seeing the benefits of staying with the company after high school or college.
Changing the "mcjob" image was another goal for National Hiring Day--to show the public that McDonald's workers learn important skills and have the opportunity for advancement within the company.
