DES MOINES, IOWA -- Despite the wind and cold, over hundreds of Iowans gathered at the capitol building Saturday to support cutting government spending.

Rally Organizer, Michael George, states 14 thousand Iowans have already signed a pledge to *only* vote for candidates who will cut government waste.

George's organization, Strong America Now, estimates that there is over 900 billion dollars in U.S. Government waste annually.

"Waste is cost that doesn't do anybody any good. For example, if we can get the same output with less input - that's waste cutting, "George said. “Cutting programs eliminates benefits that people need like Medicare, Medicaid, etc. so what we want to do is retain the benefits and cut the waste."

George was one of seven featured speakers at the tea party rally in Des Moines.
