Kolten Roan
COLUMBIA, MO. -- An Adair County R-1 High School junior has received the second-place Missouri FFA Turf Grass Management Entrepreneurship and Placement Combined Proficiency Award at the 83rd Missouri FFA Convention.
Kolten Roan of the Adair County R-1 FFA Chapter, Novinger, Mo., received the award this past weekend at the 83rd Missouri FFA Convention in Columbia. Roan is the son of Scottie and Marla Roan and his FFA advisor is Burnie Schneiderheinze.
Roan’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program includes lawn care and snow removal for residential and business properties. His business has grown to the point where he keeps two people busy. Roan said he plans to expand his business to include more landscaping services and additional employees.
Roan’s future plans include attending Muscatine Community College and continue his business operation. He said he believes his SAE was the starting point for his future goals and wishes to be very successful.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience.
Turf Grass Management is one of 47 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level.
