KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Saturday was National Healthy Kids Day and the Adair County Family YMCA celebrated in a big way.
The Y hosted a day full of fun activities. More than 100 kids and their parents participated in the festivities.
There was something for everyone. Everything from jump rope to obstacle courses to even a giant bounce house. Kids even had the chance to make their own healthy snacks like trail mix.
Although Saturday was a national day to keep kids healthy, organizers say it shouldn't be the only day kids are active.
"For anybody that didn't get an opportunity to come out don't wait until next year," said YMCA Membership Wellness Director Diane Corder. "You know you can go ahead and start doing things that make you active with your kids, whether its just walking, running or doing different kind of races. Just do something active with you kids and check with the Y, we'll have ideas of different things you can do to get involved with your kids."
The Y has several different classes parents can enroll their kids in as well as different activities that can be done at home. Click here for more info.
