KIRKSVILLE, MO --
Design work is underway for Kirksville's Franklin Street project.
The Tax Increment Finance Commission was given an update on the status of the project Wednesday.
Improvements will be made to the west side of Franklin from Jefferson Street south to Normal Street. The east edge of that portion has already been completed.
Upgrades will be made on both sides of Franklin Street from normal south to Patterson Street.
“We've hired an engineering firm. They will be doing the work. There's some storm drainage issues that have to be looked at and we've already had discussions with Truman and once we get the design back we'll probably meet again with the commission to let them kind of see what is actually being proposed,” said Mari Macomber, City Manager.
The project's estimated cost is anywhere from $750,000 to $950,000. Macomber says it will be paid largely by funding brought in by TIF revenues.
