OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The second man accused of robbing two heartland banks has pleaded guilty in federal court.
Morris Thompson III, 27, of Humboldt Illinois, pleaded guilty to three counts relating to a string of robberies in the fall of 2010.
According to federal court records Morris acknowledged he robbed the Community First Credit Union in Ottumwa on August Ninth 2010. Morris and his partner got away with just under $1,500.
Morris also pleaded guilty to robbing the Wayland State Bank in Mt. Pleasant on September 16, that robbery netted over $20,000.
Additionally Morris pleaded to conspiracy to rob a bank as a result of a heist at the PNC Bank in Louisville Kentucky.
Morris is scheduled for an August 5 sentencing.
Earlier this year, Morris's accomplice Ryan Zasareti, 21 also of Humboltd, pleaded guilty to similar charges. He will be sentenced in July.
