Crash kills one, injures three others

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A car crash Sunday afternoon kills one teen and sends three others to the hospital.

The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. on Youngstown Trail, one mile north of HWY 11.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a van driven by Steven Owais, 16, of Kirksville, was heading Southbound on Youngstown Trail when it lost control and began sliding. The van struck a bridge guardrail before going over the right edge of the bridge and hitting an embankment.

Jacquelyn Hurst, 18, of Ballwin, Missouri was pronounced dead at Northeast Regional Medical Center by Dr. Zeman.

Owais, along with Steven Calef, 14, and Drake Truitt, 16, also of Kirksville were taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center for moderate injuries.
