KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Kirksville's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) site is currently taking appointments for disposal of HHW on Saturday, April 2 from 9 am to noon. Citizens may call the Public Works Complex at 627-1291 to schedule their appointments. Scheduled drop off appointments will ensure that qualified staff is available to assist citizens with their disposal of eligible items. The program is limited to household waste and does not include disposal of any commercial hazardous waste. This facility is housed at the Public Works Complex, located at 2001 N. Osteopathy Street.
Household Hazardous Waste is a broad term that applies to any leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients. Items that will be accepted at the Kirksville collection site include: Aerosols, Antifreeze, Batteries-nicad, Batteries-alkaline, Batteries-lead acid, Batteries-lithium, Batteries-button, Ballasts, Bulbs-fluorescent, Bulbs-shattershield, Bulbs-HID, Bulbs-U-Shaped, Bulbs-crushed/broken, Cleaners-water based, Cleaners-ammonia-based, Corrosives, Cylinder-fire extinguishers, Fertilizers, Oil-cooking, Oil-used filters, Oil-motor, gear, lube, Paint-latex, Paint-oil-based, Paint-lead based, Pesticides/Poison-Pesticides, Herbicides, Insecticides, Rodenticides, Miticides, and Fungicides.
