KIRKSVILLE, MO --
A Heartland grocery store now has the right equipment to jump start your heart.

The NEMO Heart Health Corporation unveiled another automated external defibrillator at the Kirksville Hy-Vee Monday.

This AED was sponsored by Aaron and Dr. Sarah Brewer, whose two daughters were born with congenital heart disease.

“They're healthy now, they're developing wonderfully and we can't thank God enough for that but it just makes you more aware there are so many health problems out there that may go unregistered and to be able to have something like this, a tool like this in our community for everybody to use is essential,” said Sarah Brewer, D.O.

NEMO Heart Health plans to put 50 AED around the community over the next five years. Hy-Vee's AED is the 7th, and board members say there should be 23 in the area by May.

15 Hy-Vee employees have already learned how to use the AED, and more will be trained. NEMO Heart Health has already placed AEDs around town at A.T. Still University, Kirksville City Hall, and the Dukum Inn.

The next two AEDs are going to the Kirksville Regional Airport and the Adair County Courthouse.
