The former gubernatorial candidate says Iowa court system must change.
URBANDALE, IOWA -- After leading the campaign last year to vote justices off the Iowa Supreme Court, Bob Vander Plaats says the recent appointments to Iowa's highest court point to needed changes.
As called for by law, Gov. Terry Branstad appointed three new justices. The appointments do not need to undergo state legislative confirmation.
Vander Plaats, a Republican from Sioux City, urged voters last year to oust the Supreme Court justices after the high court ruled unconstitutional a law against same-sex marriage.
