MARCELINE, MO. -- With the economy the way it is, usually companies are downsizing these days, but that’s not the case for one in Marceline, Missouri.
Walsworth Publishing Company is adding nearly $3 million in printing equipment to its facility which will allow the company to better serve its clients.
"We continue to grow and succeed because we understand what the customers want and we constantly update our offerings to them to provide them with what they need,” said Chief Operating Officer Jim Mead.
With the expansion, comes new jobs, so just how many positions will be created?
"It will create about 10 new positions. Now, certainly there are people here that are interested in running the press but it will create 10 new positions in Marceline,” Mead said.
The company is getting a Baker Perkins G-14 Web Press. It will operate like the one they already have, just at a faster pace.
"It's a standard magazine and catalog book press,” Mead said. “It produces 32 pages of four color work at the rate of about 2,000 linear feed of paper per minute so it's a high speed, high quality production press."
The equipment is currently in Omaha, Nebraska and while they are disassembling it there, crews are getting things ready here.
After everything is set up the company hopes to have the new web press up and running by June.
Walsworth Publishing Company is among the 50 largest printing companies in the U.S. and this expansion just proves the dedication they put in their products.
“Walsworth is very happy that the community has come together to celebrate this,” Mead said. “It’s an important mark in our continued expansion. Walsworth has prospered for over 70 years and continues to grow and we look forward to a very bright future.”
