KEOSAUQUA,IOWA -- The decision is in on the Stockport Middle School in Van Buren County.
The school board voted 4-2 in favor of closing the school. That means the 154 7th and 8th graders will attend school in Keosauqua next school year. The gym facility will still be used.
As a result, the high school will accommodate all 7th-12th graders. The high school is undergoing renovations to expand. The move helps save money for the district.
Superintendent Lisa Beames says she wants to work with parents to make the transition as seamless as possible.
"If they have questions, ask us. Come visit with me. We'll work through those. We will be posting on our website different committees we'll have and how we will work through the process. So we're working on that today and going forward."
