KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A doctor contracted to work for Northeast Regional Medical Center was found dead in a Kirksville hotel room over the weekend.
Adair County Coroner Brian Noe told KTVO that Dr. Charles Webb, 50, of Lenexa, Kansas was found dead Sunday evening after he didn't report to work at the Kirksville hospital.
Webb was supposed to be at work at 7 p.m. Sunday, and he didn’t show up.
Officials then called Webb’s wife, who told them that her husband was in Kirksville.
They then called the Holiday Inn Express to see if Webb was there.
A hotel employee told them the doctor’s car was still in the parking lot.
A worker at the hotel attempted to open Webb’s door with a pass key, but the door was locked from the inside.
Police then broke the lock to get into the hotel room where they found Webb dead.
Noe said that Webb was a physician contracted to work at Northeast Regional, and he regularly stayed at the Holiday Inn Express when he was in town to work.
An autopsy was performed in Columbia this week, and it will be a few weeks before toxicology reports are back.
The coroner said Webb's death is not considered suspicious.
