OTTUMWA,IOWA -- Ottumwa held its monthly legislative breakfast Saturday morning at the Bridgeview Center.

The breakfast is held the first Saturday of every month. It gives residents a chance to voice their concerns to local representatives and also get an update from the state capitol in Des Moines.

One piece of good news is that the state is $217 million over revenue from this time last year. If this continues, the state is expected to be $74 million over at the end of the year than what was previously predicted.

Topics discussed included legal aid, ways to help increase business, education, and workers rights issues in Wisconsin.

Representative Mary Gaskill says she doesn't want to see it come to that in the Hawkeye State.

"I do support the workers of Iowa and workers of Wisconsin. I think we have some legitimate concern about whether or not we're going to lose workers rights. It starts one place and it grows and grows and grows. We have to remember that."

The next breakfast will be on April 2.
