OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwa residents living near Tindell Street are experiencing the mother of all potholes.
A sewer pipe collapse at the corner of Park and Tindell on monday leaving a gaping hole in the street and exposing the contents of the sewer.
Public Information Officer Tom Rodgers says that such collapses are fairly common this time of year because some of the city's sewer pipes are over one hundred years old and the freezing and thawing is can be too much for them.
Rodgers says motorists need to find a route until the city can make repairs.
