Kirksville's population increases

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The 2010 Census figures for Missouri are out.

Kirksville's population increased to 17,505.

That's an increase of 517 residents compared to the 2000 census.

As far as minorities go in Kirksville, the number of Hispanics jumped the most from 262 10 years ago to 473. That's an increase of 211 people.

The population of Adair County also went up.

The latest figures show 25,607 people now live in Adair County.

That's up 630 people from 10 years ago.

Kirksville City Manager Mari Macomber told KTVO she is glad to see the numbers are up from the 2000 census.
