Judging by the number of phone calls, emails and posts to the KTVO Facebook page that we have received, many of you have noticed the white marks along Highway 63 north of Kirksville. The marks actually start at the north edge of the city and continue north to the Iowa line.

We put our Fact Finder team to work to get an answer to your questions. We found our answer the first place we headed, the Missouri Department of Transportation.

MoDOT Community Relations Director Tammy Wallace told our Fact Finder team that the markings have been placed along the highway as part of aerial photography which is being taken of the highway. There is currently some pre-engineering work being done according to Wallace, for any future work that may be done on Highway 63 between Kirksville and the Iowa state line. She emphasized it is only early engineering work and that there is currently no funding available for further work on the highway at this time.
