OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwa Principal Mark Hanson says that a rumor of a gun threat at the high school Thursday, is just that a rumor.

We spoke directly to Principal Hansen and he says that the school has not been on lock down today, nor is there credible evidence that there ever was such a threat.

He did acknowledge in a written statement that there had been several fights at the school in the past week and that school is addressing that situation.

The gun rumor seems to have been spreading via text message and social media.
