KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Northeast Regional Medical Center announces one of the most popular renovations in its history. Construction has started on a 27,000 square foot renovation project upgrading the appearance from the Jefferson Street Café lobby to the inpatient rooms on the fourth floor.
The just under 1 million dollar face lift will include new flooring, ceiling/lighting upgrades, wall coverings, furniture and flat screen televisions. Along with the new facility improvements, a more personalized patient call system will be installed. Patients will be able to access TV stations, a nurse or patient education from one hand held control. “There may be some mild inconveniences due to closure of some bed space during the process, but we know the outcome will be well worth it,” said Eric Barber, CEO. “Our goal is to provide the highest level of quality patient care possible. We view this renovation as an integral part of achieving that goal. Patients and their families will be able to enjoy these amenities in addition to knowing that they are being cared for by the nurses and physicians who have made us one of the nation’s Top 100 Hospitals. We are also using local contractors to complete this project, keeping resources and revenue right here in Kirksville,” said Barber. Northeast Regional completed a 3.9 million dollar renovation of its OB/Nursery Unit in 2010.
Over the past year, Northeast Regional Medical Center was awarded the Thomson- Reuters 100 Top Hospital and 2009 Everest Award, honoring a small group of hospitals that are setting national benchmarks by integrating the highest achievement with the fastest long-term improvement. Northeast Regional Medical Center is the region’s largest healthcare provider with a medical staff of 120 physicians representing 33 medical specialties.
