KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A local rummage sale raised more money over the weekend than planned.

The Kirksville MOMS club organized all of its members to raise money for Foster Families of Adair County.

Their goal was to raise about $1600 to buy suitcases for kids in foster homes, but they raised over $2,000.

The charity's president, Sheila Jones, didn't realize just how much money her organization would get.  When she found out, she burst into tears of joy.

“It's just so awesome!  This kids come to us, into our home and they have nothing, and sometimes they're in their pajamas and they have nothing at all and this is going to be such a blessing to them...Wow!" she said.

The money will also go toward blankets and clothing items to fill the new suitcases.  The money should be enough to buy a suitcase for every foster child in Adair County.
