OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Iowa softball players had a chance to learn the game from some college athletes. The Indian Hills softball team held a softball clinic Saturday for girls in grade school all the way up to high school players. Head coach Jim Overturf and the team helped the younger girls with basic skills like running, fielding and hitting.
More than 30 girls took part in the day’s activities. Coach Overturf says the Warriors look forward to hosting this event every year. "Well they enjoy this they really do. Every year I’ve been here we've done this. The girls enjoy being involved. We really try to do it to help the area schools in the community that surrounds Indian Hills,” Overturf said.
The Indian Hills softball team will start season play in two weeks when it travels to Booneville, Miss., for the Tiger Fest on Feb. 25.
