JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Atmos Energy Corporation to adjust the infrastructure system replacement surcharge on the bills of its natural gas customers.
The ISRS surcharge first appeared on customer bills in November 2008 and the adjustment reflects infrastructure replacement investments made by the natural gas company from March 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010.
The current ISRS was set to zero on September 1, 2010 when the PSC decided Atmos' last general rate case. Atmos, in a January 24, 2011 filing with the Commission, sought an ISRS of $1.00 a month for residential customers in its northeast service area; and $0.28 a month for residential customers in its west and southeast service areas.
After reviewing the filing, the PSC staff and Atmos reached an agreement regarding ISRS adjustments in the company's three service areas. Under the agreement, residential customers will pay $0.68 a month in Atmos' northeast service area; $0.23 a month in the natural gas company's southeast service area; and $0.22 a month in Atmos' west service area.
Atmos serves approximately 55,600 natural gas customers in Missouri. The northeast service area includes the Hannibal, Canton, Bowling Green, Palmyra District and the Kirksville District includes Adair, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Macon, Marion, Pike, Ralls, Schuyler and Scotland counties.
