Snow days are all fun and games, until you have to make them up!

Area schools are already in discussion about the numerous days they have missed so far.

The Kirksville R-III School District has missed six days this school year. With built-in snow days, as of right now, their last day is scheduled for June 1, 2011.

Novinger Schools were originally scheduled to be out May 18, but after multiple snow days, they are now looking at May 24. They will make-up one of their snow days on Feb. 22, which was originally a scheduled day-off.

Knox County Schools have missed six days, and they will make most of them up at the end of the school year. There is one snow day they did not have built-in to their schedule, so administrators will meet to amend the calendar and should have a decision made by Wednesday, Feb. 16.

Scotland County missed seven days. Under Missouri Law, they were required to have six snow days built-in to their calendar, and they will make up every other snow day after six, up until 10. As of right now, their last day is May 26.

Brashear Schools also automatically had six snow days built-in; however, they have missed over six days and are now adding them on to the end of the year. According to current legislation, they must forgive one for every two days, after six snow days. As of right now, they will be out before Memorial Day.

Schuyler County Schools have missed five days. They have one snow day built-in to their calendar, and they will make another one up over Easter break. Administrators will soon discuss whether or not to make up a day on President’s Day. As of right now, they will be finished between May 20 – 23.
