KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Residents of the Sherdian Square apartment complex are all but fasinated with the 18 inches of white powder that fell on the city of Kirksville Tuesday afternoon.
"Nope this is what you see, and we didnt have our roads cleared out until yesterday afternoon...it's a mess," said Jim Maize.
Irene Williams is an elderly woman who needs a wheelchair to get around and has been trapped inside of her apartment since Monday afternoon.
"They shoveled my door and I thought about putting my coat on and putting my wheelchair out by the door and start shoveling,"said Williams.
Jode Bunch, daughter of Irene was not too impressed with how management treated the situation.
"They couldn't get out, the ambulance couldn't get to them, people could be here dead, and nobody could do anything to help," said Bunch
Now as of Friday some residents were still snowed into their apartments, and their heaters were still covered with snow. That could cause some apartments to lose heat later on in the week.
Manager of the apartment complex, Bobbie Rockhold, said she's done all she can with the budget that has been given to her by Belmont Management located in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
"Corporate office, located in Arkansas, has given me a $100 budget, and it's pretty hard to get someone out on that limit of a budget. I've done the best I could. I had a maintenance man, and he quit. I don't know if it was anticipation of the storm or what, and it's hard to replace someone that quick," said Rockhold.
Until then, residents can only hope that spring is just around the corner.
KTVO tried to contact the apartment complex's corporate office in Arkansas several times Friday, but we were unsuccessful in getting a comment from them.
